Back to the roots
From the hustle and bustle of the city to the meadows of Vecpiebalga
I am Mārtiņš Strēlnieks. Born and raised in Riga, I have always sought something different amidst the city walls and hustle – the quiet of the countryside, the untouched peace and authenticity of nature. This desire has not been a fleeting whim; it has been a slow maturing process to return to what is real.
In 2024, this journey of discovery led me and my family to Vecpiebalga, to Ineši. Here, at "Lejas Staiņi" homestead, we began writing a new chapter. We chose the name "Orisāres pļavas" (Orisāre Meadows) because Orisāre is the historical name of Ineši. It is our promise to honour the history of the place, while at the same time breathing new life and flavour into it.
Cuisine as a lifestyle
Food has never been just a job for me – it is my language and the way I communicate with the world. For more than ten years, I have gone through all stages of the kitchen. From a cook's apprentice to the responsibility of a chef, I have understood that there are no trifles in the kitchen.
My experience in the best restaurants has taught me discipline and technique, but my heart taught me something else: an excellent meal begins with respect for the product. I believe that the highest quality arises where professional craftsmanship and the pure origin of the product meet. At "Orisāres pļavās," we don't just create food—we create a taste experience that lingers in memory because it contains truth.
A legacy that entails responsibility
Many ask why my company's legal name is SIA "Inču krogs". The answer lies in my family and its roots. My great-great-great-grandfather was the first tenant of Pabaži (Saulkrasti) and the true owner of the inn.
Our vision today
Today, in Ineši, we are creating a place where past and future meet. We are developing rural tourism and catering not as a mass-produced product, but as a personal calling. We invite everyone to enjoy the landscape of Vecpiebalga, the slow peace, and a meal prepared with a chef's precision and the warmth of a country home.
We believe that the best flavors come from a place of peace. And that is exactly what we offer – peace that can be tasted.
